Caerhafod Lodge is off the beaten track, but easily accessed by bus. Once there, you are 5 minutes from the coastal path and stunning views. The hostel itself has brand new shower and bedroom facilities with a very well-stocked kitchen. There is also an outdoor area for eating which is perfect for sunsets. Plus, if you like animals, there is a horse, 2 cows and 2 dogs on the property. Great for families!

Caerhafod Lodge is a fabulous place to stay for exploring Pembrokeshire. It's really close to the National Park coast path, so ideal for walking, as well as being near to the excellent surfing beaches of Whitesands and Newgale. I've stayed in loads of hostels around the world and this is on a par with the high standards offered in Australia and New Zealand ie very clean, well equipped and relaxed. Caerhafod is really friendly (Sion, the owner will pick you up and drop you off at the train/bus station -cheaper than a taxi). The rooms have a maximum of 6 bunks (many only four) and are all ensuite. There's a huge communal kitchen/dining area and outside a picnic area with 180 degree views of the sea (on a clear day you can see Ireland). It's a converted barn, so has bags of character! It's also within walking distance of the best pub in the area - the Sloop at Porthgain (only £2 back in a taxi if you don't fancy walking back). It's also on the local bus route, which is ideal for hopping into St David's or Fishguard - or you can hire a bike at the lodge.
