i was also in bundy because i had run out of money! I really enjoyed my stay at the grand. It is right in the middle of town with maccas, fish and chip shop a kebab shop within a 50 meter walk(believe me you will want take away to after you work picking fruit for 10 hours in the heat!!) and $1 pots at central(a pup 30 meters away) on fri nights. bundy has pretty cheap drinks all the rest of the nights as well. there is cheap meals at the pub down stairs($4) and a supermarket about a 3 min walk away. Most of the rooms have balconys with plenty of chairs out the front. there is a sink in the room which is handy for cleaning your teeth and grabbin a drink when you want it. the rooms are cleaned each day by the nicest cleaning lady ever. the staff are a crackup and will do there best to help you as long as you stay on there good side(its pretty hard to annoy them they are the most laid back aussies!i used to stand in the office and bug them all the time because it's the only part airconditioned.). The staff also find you work and wake you up for work if you don't get up. Becuase you are always working with new people from the hostel you get to know heaps of people and make awesome friends because everyone sticks around for at least a few weeks. The internet is quick and the office sells drinks and washing powder and there is a cheap vending machine in the kitchen. That been said it has alot of faults as well that some may not be able to handle! it is a working hostel. It is not a party hosel. this means that if you refuse to go to work(don't get up) you will get kicked out. the only way the staff get pissed off is if you drink or take drugs which is clearly sign posted not to(there is plenty of pubs-but that been said you can get away with most things in your room)or if you are discustingly loud. they are only tight on the noise because 90% of the hostel will be getting up between 3am and 6am. Unfortunatly the band down stairs is pretty loud on weekends. The kitchen is very small for the number of people in the hostel at a time. the bathroom facilities are very limited but i didn't find myself waiting longer than about 15 minutes for a shower and the reason behind the wait is that all the other girls who worked on the same farm as you want a shower as well. As far as work goes they do there best. i had work 8 out of the first 10 days. unfotunalty sometimes the employees ask for males or females(illegal i know but thats how they run farms!) depending on the job so it is possible some days the hostel is limited by the farms on who gets work. I only left because it had rained for 3 days(which means most farms don't run) and there was two farms running that only take guys. that been said the week before that i had more work than the guys. As far as i know this is the same with all hostels as they often share the same farms. Such a long review-sorry!!

I went to bundaberg to work, I had run out of money (again) I ended up at the grand, The hostel itself isnt the best, the Kitchen isnt big enough, you have to run for the showers which are normall out of hot water by the time you get to them anyway. And the rooms are Infested with roaches. But if you want to work they will do there best to find you a job. By the second day of caujet picking i was almost dead. But as i ensured management that i was there for the long run, My jobs got better and better by week three i was in a packing shead(the easiest money ive ever made). And although the hostel had a no alcohol rule, if you keep the noise down past ten o'clock and kiss up a little they will turn a blind eye to it. I stayed in bundy for two months and met some of the most amazing people ive ever met, The hostel is designed for socialising, The pub downstairs has $1 pots on a friday. And theres a club ( i use the term loosley) 2 minutes down the road.I looked around and there are other nicer hostels but the grand is the best for constant work. I left bundy with a fat walette and some life long friends- Its a shame about the hostel though.
