Nice new hostel, far from town though (you get the hostel bus at certain times each day). We had a double room and it was a bit basic - just a window, bed and a locker. The room was clean and it had air con (its free but you had to ask for it to be turned on each day). There is a pool, sunloungers and one t.v in the outside lounge/dining area. Its got internet/payphones and a big tour desk. The Kitchen is new- no ovens just hobs and toaster/Kettle. There are drinks machines/snack machines near the Laundry room (got about 3 machines and 3 dryers. The communal bathrooms are clean with hot showers and big mirrors for the ladies - they are well kept. Nice place but we saw some more exciting hostels in the Town. Cairns does not have a beach : (

if you like laid back this is the place to go! Nice friendly staff - pick you up if your getting the greyhound bus. We had a double room with on-suite which was newly painted but still a bit dated. The bathroom is well kept and we also had a fridge and a kettle in our room(they give you free tea, coffee, milk and sugar. We were a bit sad we didnt have a t.v in our room but we soon realised we didnt need one in Mission beach! Outside each room is a verander - nice to sit out morning and night. The pool is in the middle of the beach houses so its very communal and welcoming. The beach is just across the road from the hostel and i mean literally - its gorgeous! You can walk to the shops from the hostel (where the greyhound drops you off- takes about 10-15 minutes). The kitchen is fairly big and new (clean) - the utensils are quite old but they work! They have internet/payphones and a t.v room. There is a tour desk too and a little shop in the reception of the hostel (milk/ice creams/crisps - u name it they have it). Behind the hostel is a bar and grill, (it not noisy). I would go back tomorrow if i could !

Airlie Beach is nice but the Koala isnt that great. We had a double with on-suite, it was in a two storey chalet which was quite big -you got a bed/ t.v with a kitchenette (kettle/toaster/plates/knifes/forks and cups) also sink and a fridge. No hobs in the room. Its like your own apartment, the overall style was very dated but it was clean - the bathroom had a shower and toilet with sink. There was some blood on the ceiling of the shower (weird) but the Koala was in a good location so we didnt mind 2 much. The communal kitchen is near the reception and its not very nice at all, because its outside there were loads of ants trailing through and mozzies etc. Not nice when your trying to cook your dinner! The laundry was out of order when we were there so we had to smell for a bit - only joking we went to a laundry down the road We didnt go in the pool but the lagoon across the road was very very nice. We ended up booking our own trips as the reception gets very busy.Internet access is in the reception but there is only 5 Computers. Also you have to hire pots and pans from reception but i wouldnt use the kitchen if you can help it !!

Noosa is gorgeous and the sea is 5 minutes walk from where we were. Unfortunatly we didnt get the Costa Bella apartments like the other guy who did a review - we got the Melaluka Units. Its right next to the Costa Bella but definatly not as nice. Our House thingy was right next to the reception and what we soon realised was that they had used half of our house for thier Reception - you could hear everything they said and did through the thin thin walls. The reception guy also kept popping in as they used one of the bedrooms as a filing room (that wasnt nice). Apart from all that the place was ok, it had a kitchen with hobs/a toaster/kettle/microwave and fridge/sink etc. We had a living room with t.v and two sofas. Upstairs had a twin room, a double room and the filing room (used to be a bedroom) and a separate toilet and shower. It was carpeted upstairs which was from the 60's like most of the furniture in that place. After we left my boyfriend told me that the many black splodges on the ceiling in our bedroom where actually spiders nests! I asked how he knew and he said he accidentally smashed one while trying to get a big fly out ! Anyway - Noosa is lovely but i would stay somewhere else if i went again (we heard on the grapevine that the Koala in Noosa is a flea pit)!

Byron Bay is awesome, the aquarius was so close to everything ! We asked for a double on-suite and were pleasantly suprised with what we got - although you do have to go through a dormatory style apartment first as the double room was above that. We had a big bed/nice bathroom with shower/toilet. The t.v was big and we also had a balcony above the pool and bar. The room was more of a swedish chalet - it suited us. There is also a tour desk down by the reception -very helpful. They have a dvd/tv room also and a laundry. The Communal Kitchen was quite small for the amount of people that were there - it was clean and they also have a member of staff there to clean up and keep it tidy after the 6.00 dinner rush. Your not meant to eat in your rooms but we took ours up a few times. The room had a fridge and a kettle with free tea/coffee etc. The balcony was nice. There is a woolworths near the main bus stop and there is plenty of shops near the aquarius also the beach is just up the road. I would book in advance if you can, it was really busy when we were there. They pick you up from the bus stop, its not far to walk if you have a light backpack/luggage!!

We arrived at the hostel -not sure what we expected!! The hostel is split into two - there is one house that is dorm based and the other house has four bedrooms and kitchen/living room used for couples and people wanting private facilities. We had a double room and it was really nice, it was a high ceiling room with a nice bed, t.v and wardrobe space. There is one room that the reception lady lives in but she is at work all day and late at night so we didnt really see her in the house. We had a communal bathroom to ourselfs as there wasnt anyone else staying in the house at that time. The bathroom was nice and clean and looks very new. The kitchen is fully equiped with Oven/hobs/toaster/kettle/microwave and fridge. It looks quite new and is kept clean. There was also patio doors that go into a back garden. There is a internet machine and communal kitchen/t.v room. They also have washing/drying facilities. We didnt see a pool there! The hostel is quite far from the shops and beach but you can walk or catch a free bus. The beach is nice. We both thought we heard weird things in that house at night but we didnt see anything so we put it down to the fact its just an old creaky house! They do pick ups from the greyhound stop.

Cool hostel not far from the beach and shops. We booked a double with bathroom - the room was very tiny but nice and cosy. It had bed/lockers (one at the bottom contained a small fridge) and kettle with free tea/coffee. The bathroom was small but had a shower sink and toilet. We did have a t.v but reception was a bit naff. We had to change rooms after 2 nights and got stuffed with just a double no t.v no bathroom and no fridge! It was only $10 more for an en-suite but they were full to capacity . There is a communal t.v/video room and luggage storage 2 but that room was a cesspit. They have a laundry and internet and communal kitchen - we didnt cook there but it looked ok - wasnt busy atall. There is a big rooftop balcony- (you can smoke up there) which is great for views and watching electrical storms! There is also the courtyard for sitting outside and hanging your washing.

Cooee was the best hostel we stayed in - we travelled the east cost and topped it all off with the best hostel in Melbourne! It was more of a top end Hotel than a motel or hostel. We had a double with en-suite and it was gorgeous. Lovely white fresh linen/ clean towels and nice new bathroom with hot shower and fully air conditioned or heated !The room was spacious with a flat screen t.v on the wall (and a remote) we had a big bed and lots of storage space. The kitchen was great has a giant flat screen t.v and hobs/oven/3 toasters/2 microwaves/kettle, big fridges and lots of tables to eat at. There is a big t.v lounge and games in the front reception. They have about 10 computers with Internet and lots of trips to go on.There's a courtyard with lots of new out door seating. There is'nt a pool but that didnt matter too much ! The beach is just a short walk and so are the cafes/shops and food stores. You can get the tram into Melbourne and that takes about 20 minutes or so. A lovely place to stay would definatly go back !
