Hostel is located only a couple of hours from Sydney. Pros- woodfire pizza's facilities (it didnt look well maintained when I was there... though I dont know anything about woodfires) - sauna (however it broke the night I was leaving; certainly a plus/rare find in hostel accomodation. Hopefully it was something like a fuse and easily fixed) - rooms are quite spacious with lovely colour schemes - hostel has its own wine tasting tour; cost effective and a good way to get to know some of the other guests  Neg- showers are like 1m square block so your forced to leave your belongings hanging on hooks attached to the wall or on the floor to get wet. Make sure you have plastic bags to keep your clothes and other things in. Also I hope your not shy... modesty is hard to maintain as your forced to get dressed in a small wet shower, or hope that no one is in the toilet cubicle and risk making a quick dash for it. - I went in winter so the vinyards were dormant, will definitely have to go back in summer to see them as well as the local gardens which people spoke highly of.

This hostel by far has had the most amazing facilities I have seen so far (though I think I have only stayed in a total of 5 hostel on NSW coast line). It had a good size pool, several internet booths (not free though and you need to pay b4 reception closes) good tv room, pool table outside, onsight and enclosed/secured parking if you drove here, key access to your individual room, good sized kitchen and facilities. WOW! However, it just had such a rigid and cold feel. The lounge room's couches were perfectly aligned... but didn't do much for encouraging people to bond or 'hang out' as I have become accoustomed too in other hostels. Good selection of restraunts to eat from that are open until about 9.30/10pm on Sunday (the night we stayed) and a small but very adequate shopping centre all within walking distance- practically right across the road. To get to the city centre was a little drive, not sure what the public transport was like for those relying on it to get around though. Mutton Bird island is a short but challenging walk. Do it in the morning, one before it gets toooo hot and two before the mozzies come out to feast. Nice views and interesting to see where the birds are up to with making babies hehe The other place I would go and visit- though you will need a car is a look out a little further north then the big banana- i think it is off 'Bruxner Bay Rd'. It looks like a dead end but it is a beautiful scenic drive with one very short walk up a drive way looking path that private properties come off- awesome views of Id say either Korora Bay or Charlesworth Bay. Spectucular! A local actually suggested it when we were at Mutton Bird Island. Took lots of pictures- we had beatiful weather. I think Coffs is a good half way point if I was driving from Sydney to Byron Bay, Tweed Heads/QLD etc Hostel had large maps for you to plan your trip and brochures of other YHA hostels, as well as a list of things to do for under $50. Staff helpful and friendly.

This little beauty of a hostel has a number of types of accommodation available to you. 6 share dorms, cabins that sleep up to 5 and a tent ground. They even have a few tents permanently up if you want to keep your luggage to a minimum. Just call in advance to check one is available. All are surrounded by trees and wildlife. Even the paths are woodchips- a beautiful touch. Concrete would really ruin the
